(Repost) Sacrifices

I love going to watch a baseball game whether it’s an amateur team or my favorite the Houston Astros. For some, they feel it’s not enough action. Needless to say, it’s just right for me! Although I don’t go often to these games, it’s worth the wait. With so much going on in my daily life sometimes, activities such as these are not high on my priority list. Making the sacrifice to take care of the important things motivates me to reward myself with the leisure. Knowing that I am working hard for the prize that awaits me works all for my good.

Life can throw some curve balls at you, but realize it’s how you position yourself to strike the ball.

Doing the opposite

Have you ever had a time where you could not get yourself out of a rut? I know it’s not a good feeling, but I’m thankful for the good days that outweigh the bad.  Getting oneself out of a bad place takes time and effort to say to self, “yes I can.” Lately, when I realize those moments of darkness try to consume I have said to myself, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” Philipians  4:13 NKJV.  There comes a point when all you can do is turn to God.  There is a song that I love, “Encourage Yourself,” that I am thankful to be reminded of during moments like these. It says, “speak over yourself, encourage yourself in the Lord”.  Sometimes we don’t know what to do when caught off guard, but remember you are not alone. Change the story and do the opposite.

Who do you love?

heart-583895__180Waking up this morning I knew today was going to be a busy day. For one thing, there was going to be a late afternoon Saints game. During this time my family likes to get together to cheer on our favorite boys. Well for me, I was not feeling like getting out my bed. I wrestled with staying in bed versus going to church for about 45 minutes. My husband came in to wake me up, but still I did not budge. Next, I saw him putting on his clothes and coming in to tell me what time we needed to be leaving. However, I still laid in bed. After wrestling some more, I thought about the rest of my day and all that I had to do. Then I was reminded that today was Communion Sunday, and that really got my attention. Thinking about my Heavenly Father and all that He has done for me on the cross reminded me of His love for me. Given a love like this was all the reason I needed to be reminded of who do I love? He first loved me, and I do it all for Him. That’s my love!

(Repost) Cloudy Days

I love that I get redirected to earlier post. It is great to share my thoughts and hopefully hear back from you.

Lately, this is how the weather has been. I’m thankful for the times the light has come to brighten up the day. Regardless of the weather it’s a privilege to experience the transition from one season to the next. Make it a great week!

Enjoy!!

clouds

You look outside and see dark clouds with limited light shining through. When there is a shift in the weather some of us tend to make a shift too. What I am talking about is the breeze and gloom that comes with a cloudy day. Seeing this makes some us feel tired, or wanting to go to sleep. We look to see or smell if it will rain. Now wait! I did say smell the rain. Yes, you can smell the rain. It may sound hillarious, but it is true. Unknowingly, we all don’t know what will happen next, but we can only imagine. We may ask the question, is a storm approaching? In past events knowing that the cloudiness gives us warning to a shift in the weather. Either it will remain the same or something else will follow. So next time you experience a “cloudy day” think about what is next? I don’t know about you but I rather have a warning then nothing at all!

Overflow

This weekend I went to help out my Mother-in-law as she was one whose house was affected by the recent flood. With all that had transpired, it brought back memories of Hurricane Katrina. Even though I was not directly affected, I was grateful to have a place for my family members to be housed. Coincidentally, that same house that provided shelter for Katrina flooded recently. With that, I was glad to see the outpour of love that came to my Mother-in-law who helped my family out before. God is so good because his grace is forever sufficient. He will come right on time.

One of my songs during this season has been “Overflow” by Bryan Andrew Wilson, which is simply asking our Lord God to rain down his love, grace and spirit. This song reminds you that we have a God who is so powerful that His love, grace, and spirit can overflow everywhere at the same time. How awesome is this! Anyone that has been affected by disaster or whatever the case maybe just know God knows. He has not forgotten about you. Just be still and know He is God. He may not come when we want Him to, but He is always on time.

During your quiet time, find your favorite song, and just sing to Him. Take these few words to start, and let Him speak to you, “Overflow, let your spirit overflow. Shower me with your love. Shower me with your grace. Shower me with your spirit. Fill this place. Fill this place.” Use any song that you choose that speaks to you. So I challenge you to find your song that gives you what you need to get through. Let it be your theme song during your season, and watch how He can use the song to minister to you.

Enjoy!!

When the bell sounds

We’ve made it to the start of another school year. Wow does time go by so fast when you’re having fun. For some, long mornings to sleep like you’re on vacation everyday. While others take in a few summer classes or a job. Whatever the situation, it was different than your typical Monday through Friday that occur during August to June. Getting prepared for the school year rears you into shopping, doctors visits and last minute school paperwork. It is one of those things that reminds you the job is never finished. When the bell sounds we get back in the groove of things.

I believe when we’re starting an assignment we are equipped to handle everything that comes our way, eventhough we may not look forward to it. I remember when starting school it was a rush of emotions because of the preparation involved. Being excited to see friends, but not too excited to hit the books. As I got older, the preparation was still a rush of emotions, but later feelings turned to accomplishing the next mission. What a huge deviation?! Regardless, it came over time just how our relationship with God develops over time.

We are all on a mission to fulfull our purpose. Each one is different, but it’s for the greater good. I hope that regardless what task is presented to us that we run our race and don’t let it run us. The bible says in Ecclesiastes 9:11,

The race is not to the swift,
Nor the battle to the strong,
Nor bread to the wise,
Nor riches to men of understanding,
Nor favor to men of skill;
But time and chance happen to them all.

When in doubt, confused, disappointed, discouraged or just feeling overwhelmed, just pray and stand still and watch God move. He will direct your path even when the bell sounds.
